Choose Your Pet From Among the Parrot Species
Many would advise you to choose a pet from among the parrot species because they are beautiful, intelligent, and attractive and they can literally talk with you. This is a great alternative to having a dog as a pet. And I am honestly one of those people. I have had cats and dogs but am relly converted to having a parrot. That's not to say you can't also have the others but you may find that your parrot will become a constant irritant to the other pets in the family especially when he learns how to call your family dog just like you do, then it may become interesting around your house. But it will give you a laugh the first few times when your faithful dog leaps to his feet because he is sure he is about to be fed.As I said dogs are not as bright as your parrot. In case you do not have many choices in your town or city, nor do you really recognize many of the parrot species then let me help you a little. It can be advisable to take a person who knows about parrots and parrot species when you go to buy a your parrot. This can ensure you choose the right bird. There are many parrot species which can cost a small amount and there are others whose price (high) will leave you with your mouth hnnging open and wondering if fish would be a better pet it won't, fish can't play tricks or talk.
The Need to Protect the Parrot Species Globally
The fact the all the parrot species make such good and extraordinarily beautiful pets is the reason that there is heavy demand in the market. This high demand promptly requires bird catchers to bring more and more exotic birds for sale and distribution world wide. Owing to this trend which was started a decade or so ago, unfortunatly leaves very few of the parrot species left in their natural wild enviroment but there are enough breeders out there it just takes persistence to find them, but I will say here that the parrots in the wild should be left in the wild if they can be and breeders should be sought so the demand can come off the world market.
There is an emerging burning need to protect these species from extinction. The local bodies should help in checking and stopping hunting of any parrots. The buying and selling – both – should be declared illegal and hence if people are caught doing so. Some people think that the people concerned should be arrested and put behind bars for anything between 6 months to 1 year along with a very hefty fine, and if it not possible for them to pay the fine then these persons should work without pay till the fine is paid, even it takes 10 years for that matter. It is time that we acted and protected each and every bird that lives today and has a place on the protected species list. We should always keep in mind that there are breeders who legimately have parrots for sale and have if needed the licence to sell these wonderful pets if you are unsure ask the breeder if alicence is required also remember there are plenty of the lesser exotic parots that need loving homes and don't forget you can adopt aolder parrot. So in closing we as humans need to protect the parrot species.
